Geraldton Lighthouse

Artwork
Fallen Icon

Northampton artist Tim Williams (1957 - 2009) painted this oil depiction of Geraldton’s iconic Point Moore lighthouse to highlight the social, environmental and heritage issues surrounding the proposed development of a deep water port at Point Moore and its southern transport corridor. His paintings, prints and sculptures captured the essence of his life in the Mid West and the raw beauty of its landscapes. Around the time he painted this artwork in 1994 he said, “The coast, the colour, the light, the bush, the space – all those elements, that have so inspired Australian landscape artists since colonisation, continually draw me back to the landscape.”
