Dance the night away

Dances were a common part of regional life. Many people met their wife or husband at a dance in a nearby town. Everyone would pile into the back of a truck (often with seats along the side) and travel to the dance. This dress represents the beauty of dresses worn in a bygone era and was owned and worn by Anne Cameron in the 1950s. Anne was a farmer’s wife and mother of eight children. She was widowed at the age of 49. Due to the number of dresses in the collection, the dresses are continually changed in the display. You may learn a new story about other fabulous women through a different dress.
