Stationmaster’s Cap Whistle and Ticket-Puncher

Tickets please! This ticket puncher was used by Dave Borrett who, wearing the cap and with the whistle in his top pocket, was the longest serving Station Master here at Cranbrook. He and his family lived in this cottage for 27 years until 1984. As well as these Station Master items, the museum includes many items which belonged to the Borrett family which was the last Station Master family to live here. The Station Master was an important person in town, as he knew the comings and goings of everything and everyone, and received the mail and newspapers. He was also the first Post Master for Cranbrook, distributing mail for about twenty five years, until the Post Office was built. The mailbags continued to arrive on the train, right up until 1982.
