Bovell Shop Counter
Over the years, how many children have stood at this counter, carefully counting out their pennies to buy some lollies from the jar on the rear shelf? The Bovell family name is well known in the Busselton area. The family ran the shipping agency for the trade at Busselton Jetty from 1903 to when the Jetty closed in the 1960s. As well as being prominent in business, family members were involved in local politics and were members of State Parliament. The single story Bovell Shop building, which is at the busy intersection between Queen and Prince Streets, is one of Busselton’s heritage-listed buildings.
