Dido by Delys Fraser and Di Taylor
This painting reveals the colourful and tumultuous life of Aboriginal man Joachim Dido, whom police employed to track bushranger Frank Thomas in 1922. Intrigued by Dido and his life, Perth artist Di Taylor joined forces with Perenjori artist Delys Fraser to create this painting showcasing Dido’s movements and partners, the births and deaths of his children, the sports he played, tracking work he undertook, and geographic features such as the Moore River near Moora and the Yarra Yarra Lakes in Carnamah. The artists worked, both together, and individually on the artwork, which featured in the exhibition '10863 Bushranger presented by Act-Belong-Commit'.
