Irra Wangga Language Centre at Bundiyarra

Sharing the language and culture of Australia’s first people

The Irra Wangga Language Centre is housed within Geraldton’s Bundiyarra Cultural Precinct. It works to preserve, share and promote the languages of the region’s Indigenous people. Here you can see and purchase books which recount Indigenous stories in language, with English translations. Some books come complete with an audio pen which enables you to hear the stories in the words of the elders who spoke them. Be sure to set aside time to also visit the Aboriginal Yama(t)ji War Memorial at Bundiyarra and pack a picnic lunch to enjoy on the grounds.
