Coolamon full of acacia seeds

Plant
Kimberly’s wattle

The Shire of Dalwallinu’s floral emblem is the Kimberley’ wattle (Acacia anthochaera). This display celebrates the diversity of uses of Australian acacias which have been used for centuries by Aboriginal peoples. Acacia can be used for food, medicine, making tools and shelter. The plant is a ‘nitrogen fixer’ for plants and is also a 'host plant' for quandong and sandalwood which are hemi-parasitic.
