Luxury on the goldfields

This perfume bottle belonged to Edith Laver (nee Atwell). It is on display amongst other personal items received as wedding gifts, including a silver cigarette lighter and button hooks with mother-of-pearl handles. Edith married Dr Charles Laver in 1904, after which they moved to various locations throughout the Goldfields. Four years prior to the wedding, Laverton was officially gazetted as a town and named after him.
