This is the spear thrower owned by Warri, which was used up until he and Yatungka were brought in from the desert in the 1970s. In the 1930s Warri and Yatungka (both Martu) fell in love and eloped into the desert because they were breaking traditional marriage laws: Yatungka had been promised to another man. In 1976, after a three-year drought, Martu Elders became worried for them both and in 1977 a search party, led by Mudjon, found Warri and Yatungka both close to starvation at Ngarinarri well.
