Noongar seasons
Listen to Country
When you live in Nyoongar Country (South West of Western Australia), using the Nyoongar six seasons is a more accurate way of defining the seasons. A great example is the difference in weather from December to February, which 'Western' settlers would call Summer. In Birak (in December) or first Summer, the afternoon is cooled by the sea breeze. Bunuru (in February), or second summer is the hottest time of the year, and quite different to the weather during Birak.
