Maarna, by Allery Sandy

Artwork
My country

A renowned Yindjibarndi artist from the Yinjaa-Barni Art Group in Roebourne, Allery Sandy always paints her country. Evocative of the abundance of wildlife and flowers of her desert country Maarni, her images challenge stereotyped notions of the hard desert landscape of the Pilbara. This painting was Winner of the Indigenous art category at the Cossack Art Awards in 2020.
