Minarri grass baskets, by Martumili artists

Craft
Women's work

Beautifully colourful and lively, this collection of baskets sits permanently on the high walls of the Martumili Artists’ gallery. Using the soft but hardy minarri grasses, these bowls are no longer in high production, and many of the artists who originally learned these skills have passed on. This display demonstrates the commitment of Martumili to preserving their skills for the future and are an important part of Martumili’s cultural collection.
