Patrick Taylor's diary

Book

What a treasure this is! Pages of writing reveal Taylor’s love of prose; however, the melancholic tone reflects his depressed state of mind. Patrick Taylor had hoped to become a successful farmer and pillar of local society. Sadly, this was not to be. Within six years of arriving here, Taylor’s wealth, managed by financial advisors in England, vanished and he became a bitter recluse and a tyrannical husband to his wife Mary (nee Bussell). He was, however, considerate to the local Menang people and wrote to the authorities to advocate for their welfare.
