Architectural Drawing of ArtGeo Building
If you have been to view the City of Busselton Art Collection at ArtGeo, you may well recognize this building. These architectural drawings are for the Busselton Agricultural Bank which was built in 1931. It became the Rural & Industries Bank in 1950. It was occupied from 1956 onwards by government departments until it was bought by the City of Busselton in 2005 and converted into an art gallery. The Agricultural Bank was a government-owned bank which was established in Western Australia in 1895 to assist with the development of agricultural land. From 1930 on, the Bank managed the Group Settlement Scheme, and the building of a branch in Busselton was in response to the need to manage the arrangements of local Group Settlers.
