File of Tenterden Fire Materials

Archive

On December 27, 2003 a catastrophic bushfire tore through the farming area of Tenterden, resulting in two fatalities and the destruction of houses, sheds, stock and crops. Local school student Emma-Jane Toovey decided to compile a file of newspaper clippings about the fire. This task continued for two years, as a coronial inquest and court proceedings extended the trauma experienced by the community. This file is a comprehensive record of this disastrous event.
