Strike up the band!

The Gnowangerup District Band formed in 1925. Bands were an important part of social life in the early 1900s. Brass bands brought music out into the streets and were used in street parades and at sporting events. In 1927 the Gnowangerup District Brass Band even played at a fancy-dress football match. These brass instruments were donated by locals in the Gnowangerup district.
