Keeping the light in rough seas

This ship's candle holder was designed to stay upright in rough seas without burning its owner. The holder was brought to Australia in January 1843 aboard the ship ‘Jana’. Captain Corporal Richard Norrish brought the candle to the Kojonup Barracks in 1846.
