Asian dolls

Ornaments
Cultural gifts

For a time, it became a tradition of Asian shipping companies to gift dolls and other traditionals terms to Australian resource industry executives and their spouses. In a climate of regular waterfront disputes, shipping companies were keen to maintain good, neighbourly relations between themselves and the resource companies who controlled the wharves. Part of the larger collection, this exquisite and colourful pair of Asian dolls was added to the Karratha collection as the executives left town.
