Cooper & Branton Cordial bottle, with marble stopper

Food
Keeping it sweet

Most northern country towns had their own cordial factories and ice works, but in Marble Bar it was an essential business to counter the heat. This cool green, glass bottle of Cooper & Branton is a remnant of Marble Bar’s cordial factory, which was situated at the Comet Mine. Complete with its marble stopper, it is a rare find as kids used to smash the bottles to use the stoppers as marbles. According to bottle collectors, this is an ‘extremely rare’ version of a ‘marble bottle’, or ‘Cold Patent’ bottle.
