Hadley School Travelling Library
A library in a box
Imagine living in a place so remote that you had to have your library sent by rail or road. From the 1940s, through the Hadley School, Travelling Library books were sent in army boxes to schools in need of resources. Often these schools only had one or two teachers. The Hadley School Travelling Library was named after Charles Hadley, Director of Education in Western Australia from 1938 - 1940. The Travelling Library stopped operating in the 1980s.
