Teacher's Journal
"Bushfires raging all round the school. Children too small to help beat out fires in case of necessity so allowed to go home at 1:30". This entry from February 17, 1921 is one of the many fascinating insights to be gained from the Teacher's Journal. The hand written records show the impact of stormy weather, flooding, a contagious cold, and other events on attendances, including the fact that sometimes the families didn't know that school had started for the year, making for a disappointing start from the teacher's point of view but not so much for the children!
