Blue Streak Two-Man Chainsaw

Tools

You might think that the introduction of chainsaws in 1952 would have radically changed the timber-felling industry. However, the early chainsaws did not necessarily make the job quicker, easier or safer. A chainsaw like this Blue-Streak was very heavy, temperamental, difficult to use (vibration was very bad), and the chain often derailed. The task of felling the huge karri trees still required the grit and strength that had been required when it was all done by hand, and the Blue Streak introduced the new danger of operating a motorised cutting tool.
