Recollections of War

As you walk through this impressive private collection, listening to your hosts Kathryn and John Shapland talk about the story behind each item, you realise that this is a very special experience. An interest in World War II history was reignited when John Shapland visited the Duxford Air Show in England in 2009. Returning to the family farm, he shared his interest with his wife Kathryn and that was it! The Recollections of War collection began, and continues to grow. The Shapland’s focus is on collecting groups of items which tell a story about an individual or event. Uniforms, military books, photographs, medals, and other memorabilia from World War I and II, Korea, Vietnam and more recent conflicts are carefully displayed in spacious rooms.
