Movie Projector and Posters
Hawaii might be a long way from Capel, but its romance and fun was beamed into the local hall when “Paradise Hawaiian Style” was the movie on that particular Saturday. The picture show was embedded in the social life of the district, made possible by this travelling projector and the man who operated it, Allan Jones. Starting in 1938, the Allan Jones Circuit Pictures presented weekly picture shows in the Capel Hall for 24 years. The projector itself, at the entrance to the Iluka Capel Public Library, travelled throughout the South West, bringing exotic locations, drama, romance and mystery to rural communities.
