Sesquicentenary Quilt

Capel celebrated its 150th anniversary in 1993 and this quilt is one of the special legacies of the celebrations. Designed and meticulously sewn by local quilters, it includes many elements which tell the story of the Capel district’s history. Look out for the Leschenault Lady, and the mill wheel from Paynes’ Flour Mill. Local flora and fauna decorate the border. One of the other lasting legacies is the impressive hardcover book “Just a horse ride away”, a comprehensive history of the Capel area, which is available to be viewed, borrowed or purchased at the Iluka Capel Public Library.
