Bustard Bone

Bone
Bush Turkey

This is the leg and foot of Ardeotis australis, known locally as ‘bush turkey’. They thrive on Roebuck Plains and the pindan coastal country of the Broome area, and after man-gala the wet season, when they are fat, are a favourite of local Aboriginal people. With an Indigenous Protected Area declared over much of the plains, the Yawuru Country Managers and Yawuru rangers are ensuring that habitats for the birdlife of the whole area are well-kept and human activity monitored.
