Merredin Military Museum

Commemorating the armed services

For military buffs, this place has an interesting collection of items from World War I to the Vietnam War. You won't be able to miss ‘Huey’ an Iroquois UH-1H and the Kiowa, two Vietnam War era helicopters at the entrance to the museum. They set the scene for unpacking numerous chapters of military history. The Museum has an extensive collection of restored vehicles, including Land Rovers and trucks used by the army, and a Bren Gun Carrier, an Australian-made British designed scout vehicle. There are several highly unusual items such as an office desk used by the 5th Light Horse Regiment during World War I and a 1000-gallon water bladder used during the Vietnam War. The collection provides some keys to unlocking beautiful and tragic stories of both men and women in wartime. Wander around the collection to view photographs of men during the Vietnam era and discover personal items from family members who survived, while their siblings perished during battle.
