White rail carriage

Vehicle
Do you smell rabbit?

This rail carriage was used for carrying rabbit carcasses to Perth. In the early 1900s rabbit populations had reached plague proportions and by the 1920s there was a large industry in trapping rabbits. They were used for food, pelts and other by-products such as glue and fertilizer, which were made from the carcass remains. This 1929 carriage is fitted with cool storage, specifically for the transportation of rabbits.
