Mt Barker Police and Folk Museum

The beautiful gardens at this local museum make for an ideal place to stop and smell the roses (there are lots of them!) while absorbing some fascinating history. Convicts built the original Police Station in 1868 and a second police station and court room were built about fifty years later. Within these buildings, and the numerous other buildings on the site, is a treasure trove of local history. The stories of those who lived here and in the district are shared by the volunteer tour guide from the Plantagenet Historical Society who will take you through this expansive collection.
