First Aid Kit

In the early days of the Goldfields there were few medical staff and most people had to rely on each other in emergencies. This first aid kit has instructions on the front of it to assist with treating various injuries and these were sometimes repeated on bandages, with brands such as Esmarch, or Vernaid. Instructions provided information about responding to bleeding, broken bones, drowning and artificial respiration.
