Objects for Nurlu - song and dance

Waking up the spirit

Without any of their old artefacts, or the money to purchase them, the Yawuru senior men decided to make their own collection for the Bugarrigarra Nyurdany (because of the Dreaming) exhibition, teaching their young people on the way. Also, as part of the nurlu program, the boomerangs and clapsticks are being used to ‘wake up the spirit’ of nurlu — the songs and dances of the Yawuru people that the elders are bringing back to the young people.
