“Mawkur” by Michael Cummings

Artwork

This intricate painting depicts “Mawkur” one of the six Menang Noongar seasons. Mawkur is the season when it is cold and wet in June and July. The complete suite of six paintings by this talented local Aboriginal artist is an important part of the City of Albany Collection. Look for more of his art, and that of other Aboriginal artists, on the interpretative signage around the Mokare sculpture in Alison Hartman Gardens, next to the Albany Public Library.
