Margaret River Library

Surrounded by bird-filled native gardens the Library building is a hub of information and ideas. Amongst the book shelves is a collection of materials on grape growing and winery operations, sources of information which have helped generations of aspiring vignerons. General and historical information on the Margaret River region can also be found here. The Mae Wise Files consist of 21 lever arch files of local history compiled by passionate local historian Mae Wise. Over many years Mae collected newspaper clippings, details of births, deaths and marriages, and information of famous families, buildings and events, and conscientiously ordered and filed the information by subject matter. Margaret River is known for its creative community, and this is demonstrated in many different locations within the building. The entrance foyer is called the Cocoon Gallery, where emerging artists can display their work. Art by local artists can be found on the walls of the main library. Before you leave, take time to explore the sensory courtyard, a place for sitting, relaxing and smelling the roses.
