Bunbury Museum and Heritage Centre

An old school building in the centre of Bunbury houses a fascinating overview of the history of this important regional centre. Stepping into this historic building from Arthur Street, you are immediately immersed in Nyoongar history, as you move through a video projection of rippling water. This signifies how Bunbury is surrounded on three sides by water – Koombana Bay, Leschenault Inlet and the Indian Ocean. Under the main room’s soaring ceiling is an intriguing installation known as the “the Ghost Ship” which floats above informative displays about the traditional owners, shipwrecks, exploration, and whalers through to more recent history.
