Geraldton Historical Society

Lighthouse keeper's cottage

Geraldton Historical Society houses its collection in the delightful Bluff Point Lighthouse Keeper’s Cottage - a whitewashed building which served as the home of the Geraldton lighthouse keeper and his family from 1876 to 1943. The cottage features a tower which was home to one of two lights - the other once stood on the beach nearby. You can see the original fresnel prism lens as well as an extensive collection of historic photos and artefacts which paint a picture of pioneering life in the district. Geraldton Historical Society also houses archival material, a members’ lending library and research and reference materials.
