The Lace Place

A world recognised lace collection plus so much more.

With renowned Wave Rock, just nearby, this is an unusual treasure. The site includes The Lace Place, The Miniature Soldier Museum, Pioneer Town, Tourist information Centre, and the Wildlife Park and Wildflower Shoppe. The Lace Place Blackburn Collection and Val Mouritz Collection of lace, together, constitute one of the largest lace collections on display in Australia. The collection includes a piece of Chantilly from Queen Victoria’s gown and a square of Princess Diana’s wedding veil.

Brussels lace fan

This fan is originally from Brussels and was made in about 1890. Olwyn Scott, who curated the Lace Place collection, painstakingly rebuilt this fan over the original mother-of-pearl frame.
