Dwellingup Trails and Visitor Centre

Where trails meet

Walking into the Trails and Visitor Centre, the energy of the Dwellingup community is all around you. This building is a hub of intrigue, stories and experiences. The large touch screens provide not only tourist information but also layers of history. Local Nyoongar history, the histories of the timber mill towns and the Dwellingup fire of 1961 are all featured in digital history trails which include photographs, first hand accounts and the powerful 30 minute documentary “The Day the Flames Came”. Glass cabinets also display many interesting historical items which paint a picture of life when this area was home to many small mill towns. In those days Dwellingup was the administrative centre for the local timber industry as well as having the only pub “The Dwelly Pub” which is now one of only two community owned hotels left in Australia.
